Ship Components in Rogue Trader are the different parts of the Rogue Trader's voidship, that fulfil different functions for Space Combat. These parts grant the ship with different bonuses both in offensive or defensive areas. There are a total of 9 ship components slots which are: Engine, Shields, Auspex, Armor, Port, Starboard, Dorsal, and two Prow slots.
Most components can be replaced with ones of the same type, should you happen to procure them. You can make the replacements at any time outside combat.
How to obtain ship components in Rogue Trader?
There are many ways to obtain new ship components - you can collect them as spoils of war, receive during certain events, collect them as rewards from your colonies, or purchase them from a Merchant in the Furibundus System (bottom right area of Furibundus system), as long as you have sufficiently high reputation with their faction.
Ship Components Notes
Apart from replaceable components, your voidship also has two system components - elements of the ship's structure that cannot be replaced but can be upgraded. These two components are the Hull and the Ram. They can be upgraded by spending Scrap.
There is one more limitation: you cannot install two weapons of the same type in the prow slots.
Scrap in Rogue Trader
Scrap is the resource used to repair the voidship. Use Scrap to repair your ship and restore its hull integrity, improve the parameters of your ship's prow and hull, or upgrade the abilities of its posts. Scrap can be found while exploring star systems, collected after certain space battles, or purchased from Merchants affiliated with various factions.

Ram & Hull in Rogue Trader
Both Ram and Hull can be upgraded up to 10 levels. Players require scrap in order to upgrade any one of them. Upgrading the ram increases both damage reduction and damage bonus, while increasing the hull, augments hull integrity, which is the amount of hits the voidship can endure before exploding.
Players are also able to downgrade them to their previous level if they so desire, receiving the total amount of scrap spent on the last upgrade.

A voidship's core structure. Hull integrity is an indication of the degree of damage the voidship has sustained. This damage remains after the battle is over and must be repaired. Use scrap to repair your ship and restore its hull integrity.
