Navy Officer is an Origin. Origins in Rogue Trader are the possible occupations that the player character practised before becoming Lord Captain. The choice of Origin adds extra bonuses to your characters, such as additional Talents, Abilities, and bonuses to different Characteristics.
Working alongside the Astra Militarum and tirelessly bringing the torch of civilization to the most remote, darkest corners of the galaxy is the Navy Officer. They command the largest guns the Imperium can bring to bear, and by their authority, they can turn to ash any planet that would rise up against them. And it is only by the laws that bind them, the institutions in place that guide them, that the inexhaustible armadas of the Imperium do not become a tide of death. The Imperial Navy is responsible for the fleets of voidships that assert the dominance of the Imperium amid the stars and fulfil other duties connected to the void and warp travel. You used to be a navy officer and a commander of a voidship, hardened in numerous battles and famous for resounding victories.
