The Sisters of Battle are a fire lit by the God-Emperor. They are the echo of His voice that travels through the dark expanses of the universe. Sister Argenta Notes & Tips

  • Argenta has some of the best AOE and burst potential in the game, but the key to making the most of this is obtaining flat damage buffs that can proc on every round of her burst to get multiplicative scaling.  There are a number of talents that provide modest damage bonuses, but those stack per bullet and can add up to a ton of bonus damage.
  • Argenta is especially synergistic with Pascal as he has a unique character buff that reduces weapon recoil by 1/2 making all rounds in a burst after the first much more accurate, as well as having an Operative talent that buffs ALL allied damage scaling off his int modifier.  These can combine to give Argenta dozens to hundreds of bonus damage with minimal setup.
  • Don't underestimate the value of Argenta maintaining a high Agility.  Its not just for her demolitions but also gives her dodge and helps her to act first in combat, as well as many soldier abilities, and advanced archetypes, using it to scale their abilities too. Picking up Second Skin (a soldier talent) will let he have a very solid medium armor while preserving 100% of her dodge too.
  • Given that Argenta is a sister of battle Willpower can make a surprisingly good support stat for her.  Battle hymn grants momentum that scales off every enemy hit and those nearby by her times her WP modifier.  Also many of her origin talents can give massive bonuses to resolve, armor, and damage vs chaos and demons, who will often be the most dangerous enemies in the game.
  • Dont underestimate the value of a long range secondary weapon that specializes in single target damage.  Often getting into position for a burst will be very dangerous and requires leaving cover.  Being able to run and gun back into safety and making a single powerful shot to end the turn will keep her alive, be more ammo efficient, and overall more effective than only using a medium range bolter or trying to hybridize for melee.
  • As with any character that relies on AoE attacks, especially with projectiles that can over-pierce, gear and abilities that proc "on damage" vs "on attack" will scales exceptionally well as you can do a dozen instances of damage or more per attack.

Sister Argenta Lore

His Will Made Manifest

Whether brought in through the Schola Progenium or direct recruitment, the life of a member of the Adepta Sororitas is one fraught with peril and pious service to the Master of Mankind. Each woman is expected to be a manifestation of His will, a living embodiment of all He would have humanity strive for while maintaining a constant vigil on those who might fall short of such lofty ideals. She shall be a beacon of faith amid the squalid, unwashed masses that bow their head in supplication to their lessers. Always to offer succor to the faithful and pious, always to chastise the faithless and wicked at the end of a bolter.

But some still heed an even higher calling, one the countless orders of the Sisterhood proffer only to their most abled sisters—Argenta was one such woman.

From the Order of Our Martyred Lady, she was assigned to one of the many orders of Pronatus so a sacred reliquary overseen by ecclesiarchial elements, a sect known as Drusans, on the void station of Footfall. She was to be another member of the small order afforded to this task. One in which she took great pride in, evident in how staunch her refusal to bend to forces that would crush lesser men and women. And with the same reverence and eagerness that took her when she beheld an Aquila amid ash and trenches, she took to her task and made a pilgrimage to Footfall.

Duty Above All Else

While no oath is sworn to forgo relationships, many of the Adepta Sororitas prioritize the sanctity of their charge as the sword and shield of the God-Emperor over dalliances of the heart. Argenta is one such individual—she will reciprocate no romantic advances.

Loyalty is Reward Enough

With her mind, body and soul given over to Him and His people, Argenta is counted among the most devoted and zealous of Imperial organizations. She brooks faith in her fellow man, but her belief lies squarely in that of the God-Emperor and His holiest of laws, that which govern and define the Imperium in its day-to-day life.

She is considered Votary Dogmatic, a dedicated adherent to the Imperium and the Master of Mankind above all else.

Deeds, Not Words

Despite her eagerness and capability, Argenta’s vigil over the Drusan reliquary came to an end when something greater still called to her and bid her find a passage from Footfall to another planet. It was this need for passage that brought her aboard Lord Captain Theodora’s ship, bringing her there due to unrelated business she also had with the same planet due to its recently discovered and unexplored nature—a world said to hold an incredible relic once employed by a Saint who is her namesake.

But during her pilgrimage to this world, her search for this relic, she made a mistake.

Minions of the Archenemy ambushed her, wounded Argenta and left her in a critical state before Theodora returned with coterie in tow. They brought blade and bullet to the heretics long enough to secure the sister before then absconding with her to the flagship, after which they fled, treating Argenta’s wounds and allowing her time to recover. This left a fire burning in her chest, one of anger and desperate for retribution, and kept her aboard the ship before pirates and dissidents launched a coup against the Rogue Trader. She never had a chance to, however, for the ship was in flight from the system before she finally came back to consciousness.

There she met many individuals during her stay in the medbay, especially Seneschal Werserian who came to ask about her health several times. A kindness which fostered a budding camaraderie with the crew, one not shared with Theodora’s diviner, Idira Tlass, whom the sister bears a great disdain for, a mutual consideration by both parties.

But whatever promises were made, whatever Argenta may have expected, was not to come to pass.

However, the efforts of the heir apparent to the von Valancius dynasty and their growing retinue—Argenta counted among their ranks—pushed back against the tide of fate. And now only the future shall see what lies in store for the new Lord Captain and Argenta, their steadfast markswoman.

Fervor and Faith

Whether it is by bolter, flamer or melta, the Adepta Sororitas teaches its members how best to bring death to the heretic, mutant and alien with a vast and blessed arsenal of weaponry. They are taught how best to punctuate their sermons toward the unclean and unfaithful with the staccato of bolt shells, delivered unto them from the barrel of their most iconic choice of weapon. And in this regard, Argenta is no different from the rest of her sisters.

Argenta specializes in the Marksman discipline, which grants her several unique abilities. Beyond her Soldier specialization, though, is her Origin unique abilities for being a Sister of Battle. Among all her unique abilities is an inherent Bolter and Flamer proficiency, as well as the Run and Gun and War Hymn special actions.

Run and Gun: The Marksman gains +(2 + AGI bonus / 2) MP. Their next attack costs −1 AP less and does not count toward the attack limit per turn. Until the end of the next turn, the Marksman becomes winded. While winded, the Marksman suffers a −10 penalty to Ballistic Skill and cannot use Run and Gun.

War Hymn: Grants momentum equal to (2 × Ministorum priest’s WIL bonus).  This ability also grants an additional Willpower momentum for each enemy that is either in a 5-cell radius around the priest or was hit by the priest this turn.
This can only be used once per combat.
