Saving the Doomed is a Rumour Quest in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader. Saving the Doomed can be acquired in Chapter 4 in Santiel's Pride, after saving a lone scout facing a group of xenos.

Rogue Trader Saving the Doomed Walkthrough

Head to the Nolla Septum system and scan Santiel's Pride. You will need to do this even if you already scanned it during chapter 4.

Explore Frozen Hive World and you will have multiple options. Exhaust all of them before choosing to explore the planet.

  1. [Requires: Marazhai] "Sharpen your blades, Marazhai. We are hunting xenos tonight."
  2. [Requires: Mobile Extractium] "Start promethium extraction immediately. We must exploit the world's remaining potential while it is still maintaining orbit." - gives Fuel
  3. "Dispatch rescue teams to the world. They better not return without survivors." - gives People
  4. "Tell the crew to get the shuttle ready. Let us not delay and begin exploration of this dead world." - enables landing on the planet
  5. "Enough talk. Santiel's Pride awaits." - enables landing on the planet

After you leave, go down the stairs. You will have a couple of optional skill tests, including one that will let you uncover Crumpled Writ and Engraved Pendant.

Then you can either go forward or up some stairs. Go forward first and you will see a scout shooting and running from drukhari. This will complete the Fall of Santiel's Pride rumor if you have it. First go left, in the direction he ran from, and at the end if you have sufficient Awareness you will find a hidden backpack with a Melta Charge. Go back and follow after the scout and drukhari, looting a dead body along the way, and you will arrive on a shrine platform where you will find the scout surrounded by drukhari. They will not notice you so you can begin the fight with an ambush attack. After most drukhari are killed another group of 2 Kabalite Specialist and 4 Kabalite Blademaster will arrive. After the fight speak with the scout agree to help save his people and the quest will begin. You can either tell him to lead you to them or give you their location.

Go back and go up the stairs you've seen earlier. You will be attacked by drukhari on both sides. You can go this way before finding the scout but then the battle will be an ambush battle instead of one where you can position. After the battle first loot the left side. If you have sufficient Awareness you can find a hidden locked chest with cargo goods by the statue. Then go to the opposite platform and cross the bridge before going left and looting a body and a locked crate. If you go immediately left past the rubble you will find two hidden goods and a trap between them.

Once you reach the north-western corner of the map you will find a group of drukhari torturing a human. You can ambush them. After the battle if the scout is with you he will talk with his friend.

Interact with the medusae killed on the left. If Abelard, Pasqal, Heinrix or Yrliet are in the party you can ask what is that creature. If you pass an Awareness test and then a Medicae test you'll be able to separate the medusa from the host and take one of both to the voidship but it has no impact on the story. Either way the quest will be completed. Before leaving the planet you can continue along the path down the stairway to find some more loot as well as a brief bonus fight. At the bottom of the final platform there is an Athletics test you can pass to unfasten a cable and make backtracking faster.
