Rogue Trader Duty of the Navis Nobilite Walkthrough

A few warp jumps after the quest Spiders in a Jar has been completed, if Cassia Orsellio has not been permanently removed from the party, House Orsellio will contact you to arrange a meeting to speak about Cassia. If you refuse or lie to them then at some point later Cassia will ask you the same thing. If you refuse her this quest will never be started. Accepting at any point will start the quest.

Go to the Von Valancius Palace on Dargonus and speak with Clementia Werserian. Mention the meeting with navigators of House Orsellio. You will have two dialogue options how to receive them.

  1. "Make arrangements for a reception worthy of the refined tastes of the Navis Nobilite." - costs 1 Profit Factor and makes the arrival cutscene grander but does not affect the story or dialogue
  2. "A meeting with the Navigators is just a formality. No need for any extravagant receptions."

Afterwards choosing "Yes, Cassia and I are ready for the talks." will let you choose which companions will be present. The navigators will arrive, let by Regent Aaronto who will want to speak with Cassia.

Major choice: How much independence you give Cassia will affect her character development path.

  1. [Nod wordlessly] - pushes Cassia towards the Freedom path
  2. "As long as the Lady Navigator remains under my protection, I will speak on her behalf."

The rest of the conversation does not influence the story. Regardless of how it proceeds, it is interrupted by an attack led by Lady Navigator Elina and her crew of Navis Bodyguards. The Rogue Trader will furthest from the battle, on the throne. The enemies are positioned in a way that makes the particularly vulnerable to Cassia's Lidless Stare ability. After the before speaking to Lady Navigator Elina loot all enemies, including the original assailant. Otherwise you will miss the loot.

Lady Navigator Elina will request mercy. You can grant her a trial or execute her. Afterwards you will have the chance to find out more, either at the trial or from Regent Aaronto after the execution. You will have the option to execute Regent Aaronto as well.

Major decision: Lady Navigator Elina and Regent Aaronto will appear during The Price of Power if they are not executed.

If you give Lady Navigator Elina a trial, after questioning both her and Regent Aaronto you can also ask for Cassia's input. Cassia's input will depend on her current character development path.

  • If Cassia is either on the Freedom character development path or was pushed equally towards it and the other paths she will suggest that Lady Navigator Elina be spared. If you agree with her suggestion it will push her further into the Freedom path.
  • If Cassia is on the Hatred character development path she will suggest that Lady Navigator Elina be executed.
  • If Cassia is on the Subservient character development path she will be reluctant to suggest anything.

If Regent Aaronto was not executed you can propose an alliance between the two dynasties, which will grant 15 Navigator's Insight. He will also request that Cassia returns to House Orsellio and give the following options:

  1. [Persuasion] "There are traitors in your midst. Would the Lady Navigator not be safer under my protection?" - Cassia remains with you if successful
  2. "Cassia has no need of your tutelage. As the future Novator, she will handle the issues her House is facing on her own." - Cassia remains with you and you can push her towards the Freedom or Subservient paths
  3. "I will give my consent if I am furnished with another Navigator. Otherwise, Cassia will remain until her contract expires." - Cassia leaves
  4. "I graciously acquiesce." - Cassia leaves
  5. [Coercion] "I will personally decide when the Lady Navigator leaves my crew. If you object, we can settle the dispute with a duel." - Cassia remains if successful, Regent Aaronto is executed if fails

Return to the ship and talk to Cassia to complete this quest.

It seems if you have the grand reception, the Aaronto and his navigators will join you in battle. If you don't, they'll skitter away and cower for the fight.
