The Call of the Edge is an Other Quest in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader. The Call of the Edge can be acquired in Act 1.

The quest can only be obtained if the Blade Shard was obtained at the end of the prologue.

- Become a god to your subjects
- Find the second sword shard
- Retain the sword shards for the future
- Take the sword shards to the altar of Chaos
- Become a zealot of Chaos
- Wait for fate to lead you to the "iron world"
- Choose your destiny
- Speak the forbidden name to Uralon the Cruel
- Follow the plan of the servants of the corpse emperor until the right moment
- Offer up a sacrifice to the Weaver of Destinies
Rogue Trader The Call of the Edge Walkthrough
The quest will begin when the voidship is first approaching Rykad Minoris. The Rogue Trader will see the ghosts of crew members who died during the prologue. Regardless of what you tell them, you will have a vision of the Blade Shard turning into a powerful sword. A voice will tell you to become a champion of Chaos. Regardless of your reply, the vision will end and you will see the shard again and have two options:
- [Heretical] [Pick up the shard] - continues the quest
- [Dogmatic] [Get rid of the shard] - removes the Blade Shard from the inventory and fails the quest
The second sword shard can be obtained during the Gleam of the Final Dawn quest.
The objective to become a god to your subjects is completed by reaching Heretical - Votary conviction rank. The next warp jump after that happens (assuming there are no more pressing events) you will be taken to an altar in your quarters. Interact with it and place the sword pieces on the altar. The pieces will be gone and you will receive the Mark of Cruelty talent (+2 Wounds per Heretical level).
The objective to become a zealot of Chaos is completed by reaching Heretical - Fanatic conviction rank.
If you placed the sword pieces on the altar then during The Siege you will hear the voice of Edge of Daybreak. You will unlock a keyword to tell Uralon the Cruel which will allow you to side with him. If you side with him, after Edge of Daybreak is summoned, you will have the choice to submit to it or kill it. If you kill it you will gain Edge of Irrevocable.
