Rogue Trader The Price of Power Walkthrough

During the first warp travel after completing The Great Judgement, assuming there are no more pressing issues, you will receive some Holy Gifts and a message from House Orsellio.

Major choice: Decrypting the data-slate will unlock additional options later in the quest.

  1. "What vid-message? Show me." - you will receive a message Regent Aaronto if he was not executed during Duty of the Navis Nobilite, or his successor if he was
  2. "Decode the encryption hidden in the data-slate." - you will receive a second message during the next warp travel
  3. "A hidden encryption? This is suspicious. Get rid of it immediately." - you will speak with Cassia after two warp travels
  4. [Requires: Read the message] "I have grown tired of House Orsellio. Throw the data-slate in the plasma reactor." - you will speak with Cassia after two warp travels

If you decrypt the data-slate then during the next warp travel you will receive a second message. The message will be from Lady Navigator Elina if she was not executed during Duty of the Navis Nobilite, or someone unknown if she was.

Two warp travels after the last message is received you will be approached by Cassia who will ask for your help in retracing the steps of Tisiphone Orsellio. If you agree to help her the quest will begin and the system will become available on the Koronus Expanse map and the Smaragdus Mundos system will become available. You will then have to choose whether to invite the House Orsellio loyalists, renegades, or neither. It has no effect on the quest beyond an introduction scene later on.

  1. [Requires: Received the second message earlier] "If you wish to show the House your strength and undauntable spirit, invite the renegades to be the first to touch the secrets of the Atlas they loathe so much." - Renegades will join you on the quest. If Cassia is on the Freedom or Hatred character development path you will need to pass a Persuasion or Coercion test, otherwise she will agree.
  2. "You are standing on the cusp of a great discovery for all of House Orsellio. Inviting the regent seems like the sensible thing to do." - Loyalists will join you on the quest. If Cassia is on the Freedom or Hatred character development path you will need to pass a Persuasion or Coercion test, otherwise she will agree.
  3. "Then it is best that we go alone."

The Smaragdus Mundos system will now appear on the Koronus Expanse map. There will be a warp route to it in the Orsellio Prophecy system.

How stable the warp route is when you first travel does not matter. When you travel to the Smaragdus Mundos system a book event will trigger.

Major choice: Most book choices do not have any effects beyond the experience bonus. But after the first choice you will have one chance to push Cassia on the Hatred character development path.

  1. [Weapon Skill] "...snatched a dagger from the floor and started hacking at the hands reaching from inside the painting." - changes a dialogue option later
  2. "...tried to escape from the Sanctum Navis." - pushes Cassia on the Hatred character development path
  3. [Toughness] "...grabbed Lady Navigator's hand to try to pull her back out." - changes a dialogue option later

You will next have an optional Awareness test. Afterwards you will have the following options:

  1. [Requires: Passed the Weapon Skill test] "...stabbed Tisiphone Orsellio with the ritual dagger."
  2. [Requires: Passed the Toughness test] "...followed his/her intuition and jabbed the cogita-brush's catheter into his/her own vein."
  3. [Requires: Did not pass the Weapon Skill test] [Agility] "...attacked the dead Navigator with his/her bare hands."
  4. [Persuasion] "...urged the Lady Navigator to fight the monster to the bitter end."
  5. "...chose not to intervene."

Once you reach Smaragdus Mundos, scan and land on the Desert World. The navigator faction you chose at the beginning of the quest will come with you, if any. The landing area has three exits. First explore the left and right exits as they lead to optional areas. The left side has a ladder you can climb to reach a container you can unblock with a Melta Charge to obtain Grenadier's Backpack and Plasma Ring. The right side has a an Athletics test you can pass to reach a broken excavator you can check with a Tech-Use test to gain Elite Marksman Gloves. Then continue through the forward exit. At the second cross section you can again go left or right to explore some optional areas, with the left side containing a hidden crate you can find that will give you Immaterium Routing Amulet. There are also a few skill tests you can pass throughout the map.

At the end of the map both the renegades and the loyalists will meet but eldar harlequins will kill everyone except the leader of the renegades, leader of the loyalists, and your party. You will learn the truth about the Atlas's creation. There are four ways in which the quest can end.

  • You can let the harlequins kill Cassia and the navigators.
  • You can fight the harlequins. Afterwards if Cassia is on the Subservient character development path she will save the Starway Atlas. Otherwise she will destroy it.
  • If Cassia is on the Freedom or Hatred character development path she will suggest a way to depower the Starway Atlas.
  • If Cassia has been romanced in a courtly way at least 5 times she can be asked to leave House Orsellio behind and remain with you. If she is on the Hatred character development path she will refuse. Otherwise she will agree but you will have to fight the harlequins.

After the conclusion you can loot the killed navigators, as well as explore the rest of the map and pass three more Lore (Xenos) tests. On the right side there is a hidden chest partially buried that you can find with sufficient Awareness to get Staff of Orsellio Novator. Return to the voidship and speak with Cassia to end the quest.
