Rogue Trader Blood Ties Walkthrough

In one of the scenes that play out at the beginning of chapter 4 Abelard Werserian will tell you that his family has been accused of treason. Agree to help him and the quest will start

Major choice: If you refuse to help Abelard the quest will be avoided and the Werserian family will be executed.

Go to Dargonus where you will find a murder scene. You can pass Medicae in the conversation with the Warden and an Awareness test on a body. Both of these will unlock additional dialogue options throughout the quest but will not help or affect the outcome.

Enter the palace and go to the throne room. A scene will play out. You will speak with Governor Urbend Drivestem and Clementia Werserian. You can ask a couple of questions but ultimately only two choices matter.

Major choice: Decides the fate of the Werserian family.

  1. "Sabotaging logistics, riots, conspiracy... The case appears to be flimsy. I wish to learn more before I make my final decision." - the quest continues
  2. "I do not have time to deal with this. Drivestem, I accept the findings of your investigation and find the Werserians guilty." - the Werserian family is executed and the quest fails

If you speak with Governor Urbend Drivestem you can execute the Werserian family and fail the quest. To prove that they are innocent, ask Governor Urbend Drivestem about his son. Exhaust all dialogue options with his son and then either have sufficient Coercion, Heinrix or Marazhai in the party. You can choose to either execute Cornelius Drivestem or spare him. At this point you can finish the quest early by telling Governor Urbend Drivestem you are ready to give your verdict. The Werserian family will be found innocent and you will choose one of the other three noble families to be executed. If you want to find out who is guilty, continue the quest instead.

You will next need to uncover which family is guilty.

  • If you speak with the Sauerback family and pass a Lore (Imperium) test and then a Coercion test you will uncover that the Sauerback family is partially guilty.
  • If you speak with the Gaprak family and during The Emperor and My Right you either allowed Vicent Gaprak to serve on the voidship or discovered he and Astartia Werserian have feelings for each other you can speak with him in private and he will point you to Halen Gaprak in the palace entrance hall. This is no necessarily to interact with Halen Gaprak and will merely point you to him. If you go down the stairs by the palace entrance hall you will find Halen Gaprak. Try to speak with him and you will discover he is dead. If you either pass a Medicae test or Heinrix is in the party you will discover he has been poisoned. If you pass a difficult Awareness test you will also find out how the poison was administered. If you search the pockets you will gain Short Note. Show the note to Toriana Gaprak and you will uncover that the Gaprak family is partially guilty.
  • After discovering that the Gaprak family is guilty speak with Governor Urbend Drivestem about Macharius Sauerback and you will have the option to let a Drivestem Aristocrat show you the last place where Macharius acted suspiciously. Follow her and pass an Awareness test to discover that the Sauerback is responsible.

Major choice: If you tell discovered Vicent Gaprak and Astartia Werserian have feelings for each other during The Emperor and My Right you can encourage Vicent to protect her. This will give them a bonus epilogue slide.

You can speak with Governor Urbend Drivestem at any point to end the quest.

  • If you have not uncovered proof that the Werserian family is innocent they will be executed.
  • If you have uncovered proof that the Werserian family is innocent but not which noble family is guilty you will have to choose one of the other three noble families to be executed.
  • If you have uncovered proof that the Werserian family is innocent and that another noble family is partially guilty you will have to choose one among those to be executed.
  • If you have uncovered proof that the Werserian family is innocent and that the Sauerback is responsible you will have the option to point it out in no uncertain terms. Abelard and Macharius will discover Regina Sauerback is responsible. You can choose to execute either her or the entire Sauerback family. Regardless of choice you will receive Traitor's Ring.

Major choice: All four families have various endings depending on whether they survive the quest of not.

After you make your choice you will see a cutscene with their execution. If the Werserian family was not executed Abelard will tell you he needs time to reflect what do to next and to talk with him later on the voidship. Do that and Abelard will tell you what are his plans for the future.

Major choice: Abelard's plans for the future depend on what you told him during Dark Echelons and decides his epilogue. If you pushed him on both paths both you will have the option to decide which one he will choose.
