Rogue Trader Rat Hunting Walkthrough

In one of the scenes that play out at the beginning of chapter 4 Jae Heydari will tell you she is being hunted for her Mercatum Tabula Officiale and ask for help. Travel to Footfall where Jae will ask for your help again.

Major choice: If you refuse to help Jae at either point she will permanently leave.

Shortly after arriving at Footfall Jae will mention how risky things are for her gang. You will gain the following dialogue options. How you reply does not affect the options offered in the quest.

  1. "Explain your plan in more detail." - gives the objective (the objective it not necessary to begin the gas puzzle)
  2. "How do we get into the tunnels?"
  3. [Requires: Dogmatic - Votary] "Jae Heydari, the certificate did not only grant you limitless opportunities, it also imposed upon you responsibilities to the Imperium. The certificate cannot be allowed to fall into Falco's hands — you know this." - removes the penalties for not doing the gas puzzle
  4. "I refuse to creep through tunnels like a rat! We will go in, wipe out Falco's gang, and leave!"
  5. "Come. It is time to enter the sewers."

If you have not proceeded enough through The Lord Inquisitor and The Lord Captain you will need to go to the Atrium on Footfall and speak with Chorda first before proceeding.

Travel to Martyr's Endurance and enter the sewers by going down the stairs after the entrance. Once in the sewers, you will need to avoid being seen by any guards or else the gas puzzle will be failed. So instead of going forward go right. There will be a patrol up ahead so it's recommended to use the highlight button to see it better. Once you get past the first guard, there will be an Agility test on the right. Pass it to gain access to the gas cylinder, as well as a crate with cargo goods. Pass a Tech-Use test to attach the gas cylinder. You will next need to open the gas valves. Follow the pipes to find them all, or use the map at the bottom of the page. There are multiple traps throughout the sewers as well. Once all valves are open interact with a cogitator between the entrances to Falco's room and pass a Tech-Use test to pump gas inside. Then enter Falco's room, where Jae will wake up her gang and you will decide Falco's fate:

  1. "Do it, Jae." - Jae will shoot Falco and you can loot Elite Blast Pistol, Reinforced Wych Armour and Scorpion Sting
  2. "Let's block off all the entrances to the sewers — let them suffer a slow, painful death down here." - Falco will die in the sewers
  3. "Let's not descend into anarchy, Jae. You got what you wanted — he'll go to Chorda now." - Falco will be found hanged in the Atrium
  4. "Do what you want, but make it quick. The sewer stench is turning my stomach!" - Jae will shoot Falco and you can loot Elite Blast PistolReinforced Wych Armour and Scorpion Sting

If you enter Falco's room without solving the puzzle Jae's gang will be killed. You will have to fight Falco and his men and if there is an ongoing romance with Jae it will end. Alternatively you can hand over Jae to Falco. He will then offer 5 Profit Factor, Undying Rage and some cargo loot.

When finished, exit through the door on the western side of the sewers. Once you're back on the voidship bridge speak with Jae again. You will have the following dialogue options:

  1. "You are beautiful no matter the guise, Jae."
  2. "I would like to see the real you, as often as possible." - increases Jae's trust
  3. "I do not think so. You are not committed enough for this burden."
  4. [Shrug]

Regardless of how you reply Jae will tell you her plans on the future, depending on whether you pushes her on the Independent or Shadow Baroness character development path.

Major choice: If you have picked dialogue options that increase Jae's trust at least 5 times you can change her character development path via the way you reply.

  1. [Requires: Jae was pushed on the Independent path] "This is your choice to make, Jae. All I can do is support it." - Jae completes her character development on the Independent route
  2. [Requires: Jae was pushed on the Shadow Baroness path] "A Shadow Baron? It never hurts to acquire such an ally." - Jae completes her character development on the Shadow Baroness route
  3. "This does not sound like a good choice, Jae." - you will have the option to change her character development path
  4. "Do as you see fit." - Jae completes her character development on the route she mentioned

If you tell her it is not a good idea you will have the following ways to reply:

  1. [Requires: Jae was pushed on the Independent path] "You have enough assets to become a Kasballica Shadow Baron here in the Expanse." - Jae completes her character development on the Shadow Baroness route if her trust is high enough
  2. [Requires: Jae was pushed on the Shadow Baroness path] "With the Mercatum Tabula Officiale, you can be whatever you want!" - Jae completes her character development on the Independent route if her trust is high enough
  3. "I cannot make you Liege of Footfall, Jae. But how about the entire protectorate? Will you be my right hand?" - Jae will become your right hand if her trust is high enough
  4. "Never mind, it is your life, after all." - Jae completes her character development on the route she mentioned

If Jae is romanced you will also have the option to accompany Jae to a Cold Trader meeting.
