The Chosen Ones is a main story Quest in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader. The Chosen Ones can be acquired in the first Act of the game. The Quest will begin when the player explores the Rykadi Philia in the Rykad system, after scanning the planetoid. After landing, they'll quickly encounter Pilot Raquel, and speaking to her will begin the Quest.

Rykadi Philia, the prison planetoid, is corrupted by heresy. Despite his noble lineage, its warden has succumbed to heresy and rebelled. Is this place hiding any other sinister secrets?

Rogue Trader The Chosen Ones Walkthrough

 

After getting the quest from Pilot Raquel disarm the trap in front of the gate and proceed through the only door into the barracks. There are two more traps there so carefully maneuver around to disarm them.

As soon as you try to enter the sleeping area you will face an ambush fight against a group of prisoners. After looting them, the poster on the left side of the room has a Perception check and will let you take it off and get some goods if you pass.

Enter the doorway past the beds, to the right, to find yourself behind the gates that were protecting some of your enemies in the previous fight. Loot them as necessary. Turn left at the closed gate to enter a room with piles of corpses. Loot the dead prison guard for the Prison Guard Key. Head back to the locked gate and open it with your new key. Open another locked gate to the right with Tech-Use this time. Move forward along the corridor. You'll be stopped by a group of prisoners and fanatics. The prisoners will backstab the fanatics, revealing that they were just playing along with the others. You can talk with them about Thunderfang if you made contact with the ship. The prisoners will ask you to spare them.

Major choice: If tell the prisoners you'll space them they will give you a code phrase to tell Ryzza when you encounter her in chapter 2 to reduce Profit Factor costs for buying from Fellowship of the Void by 5. You will also get a bonus choice to gain +3 in a conviction:

  1. [Heretical] "You may go."
  2. [Iconoclast] "I shall not leave you here to die at the hands of the warden's henchmen. Go, tell my pilot that it is the Lord Captain's order that you be sent to my ship. You will join my ship's crew. You have my personal pardon as a Rogue Trader."
  3. [Dogmatic] [Attack] "I have changed my mind. By His name, I will not let heretical riffraff such as yourselves leave this place alive!"

After dealing with the prisoners loot the killed fanatics for 3 Autopistols and blow up the door at the end of the room. The large dresser will contain some usual cargo along with a Saturated Cape and Foehammer. There is also a hidden cache in the desk that you'll find with sufficient Awareness, gaining a Medikit, Gas Cloud Grenade and Diviner's Staff.  Use the exit near the dresser to head out to the main level. Build a bridge if you want for a shortcut back to the entrance of the area. Then continue to the elevator.

At the pit, follow the path down to find the Warden Casteglia. If Gleam of the Final Dawn has been completed you can tell him you've killed Aurora but he will claim she's not truly dead. Regardless of how the conversation proceeds, a battle will start with him and his followers.

Each time Warden Casteglia is killed an Unholy Lens will resurrect him. You can either destroy the lenses first or kill the warden 4 times, at which point he dies permanently.

After the fight, you'll all approach Winterscale and can choose to either take him on the voidship or kill him.

Major choice: Taking Winterscale aboard the voidship will unlock an additional option during one system exploration.

      What? I've arrived headfirst in time, helped him kill the traitors but in the end he just refused to get on the ship (something like "i'd like to stay on my personal shuttle" and completely disappeared from the story whatsoever. Am i missed anything?

        Anyone know what happens if you come here first, and then deal with the derelict ship in the asteroid belt? The prisoners that you assist were the ones that they were trying to break free. Is there any additional text/bonus to having freed them before talking to the ship?

        • If you head here first, Winterscale and his 2 guards are alive at the top of the elevator, talks to you, then helps you with the boss fight. I've heard if you come here 3rd he's dead not just tortured but can't confirm.
