Rogue Trader Hunting Grounds Walkthrough

Go to the Nameless Star system. As soon as you enter you will speak with Vox Master Vigdis and have the following dialogue options:

  1. "And this is all you have to report?" - Unlocks Aeldari Shipwreck on the map.
  2. "What information does our librarium have on the Winterscale flagship?"
  3. "Hail the Emperor's Vow." - Speaks with Emperor's Vow. This will update the objectives for this quest, add the Beheaded Griffin rumor, and if the Outcast's Duty quest is started it will update its objectives. The hail is not necessary for either quest however.
  4. "I have no intention of talking with Calligos now." - Van speak with Emperor's Vow by flying to it on the map.

Land on Quetza Temer. Leave the landing area and you will find some crates with cargo goods. Next, the path will split in two. Quetza Temer has 11 different maps with the same name. Some paths between 2 maps are one way only, and sometimes the entry point of a map can lead you to a completely different place. From the landing area the left path will split into multiple ones while the right path will remain linear until the middle point. Because of this, it is recommender to take the right path.

No matter which path you take you will eventually reach the same middle point. There you will fight an ambush battle against aeldari.

You will need to find Calligos Winterscale and then bring him to the forest village. Optionally you can visit the forest village first to find out more information. You can use the map at the bottom of the page to see how the maps are interconnected.

When you finally find Calligos Winterscale he will kill an eldar and think you're a xenos but regardless of how you reply Speaks-With-Gods will cure him. If Marazhai is in the party and romanced you will have some extra dialogue that will affect who is dominant and who is submissive in the relationship. Afterwards the conversation with Winterscale will resume.

Major choice: Most dialogue options unlock additional benefits so it is recommended to leave the last two for last.

  1. [Medicae] [Assess Winterscale's condition] - unlocks a dialogue option in the next conversation
  2. [Awareness] [Inspect Calligos' retinues] - unlocks a dialogue option in the next conversation
  3. "I should like to ask a few questions about your presence on Quetza Temer."
  4. "You have already destroyed four xenos ships, is that not a great victory in itself? Cease this hunt, and I shall make the xenos leave your worlds forever." - counts towards Winterscale's redemption (Necessary for peaceful solution with the Aeldari)
  5. [Heretical] "Calligos, I see that you and I are kindred souls, in a way." - is required to recruit Calligos Winterscale if Heretical and unlocks the following dialogue option
  6. [Requires: Chose the Heretical dialogue option] "Worten, you are not as simple as you seem. What are you plotting?"
  7. "I would gladly hunt xenos in worthy company." - if Yrliet is in the party she will temporarily leave
  8. "Then the first order of business is to return the priest to the heart of the forest and calm its rage." - continues the quest

After the conversation loot the aeldari Winterscale killed and find your way back to the village. Speaks-With-Gods will complete his ritual to calm the forest. Afterwards you can speak with a few more characters before continuing. If you speak with Speaks-With-Gods and ask him how did he and Winterscale survive you will unlock a new dialogue option to discover that Winterscale killed his seneschal.

If you speak with Calligos Winterscale you will have the following dialogue options.

Major choice: Some dialogue options count towards Calligos Winterscale's redemption

  1. "Let us discuss the Aeldari problem." - unlocks a Commerce, Fellowship or Persuasion test that counts towards Winterscale's redemption
  2. "Stop calling me 'new blood.'"
  3. "I hear you have decided to oppose both the Lord Inquisitor and the Chorda dynasty."
  4. "Tell me about Quetza Temer."
  5. "How did you survive in the forest all this time?"
  6. [Requires: Passed the Medicae or Awareness test in the first conversation and asked how did he survive in the forest] "I have noticed that your people look utterly woebegone, while you do not have a single scratch on you." - counts towards Winterscale's redemption
  7. [Requires: Learned from Speaks-With-Gods that Winterscale killed his seneschal] "I saw the corpse of your Seneschal at the forest camp."
  8. "It is time to go seeking Aeldari." - continues the quest
  9. [Leave] "I need a little more time."

When you are ready tell Winterscale to lead you to the eldar. He will take you to a new map. Before climbing the stairs, you can use a Melta Charge on a ruined chapel's door to loot some crates inside.

Once you climb the stairs you will meet the eldar. The solitaire from chapter 3 will be present. If you try to speak with him he will reply based on how you treated him in chapter 3.

Major choice: If Yrliet is in the party you can address her. What you tell her will affect her character development path.

  1. "Do you still think your kin is worth saving?" - pushes Yrliet on the Path of the Outcast path
  2. "Your kin had a solid reason to attack this world. I see no issue with sacrificing the lowborn if it helps a good cause." - pushes Yrliet on the Path of the Warrior path

The conflict can be solved in the following ways:

  • You can fight the aeldari. If Yrliet is in the party, she is on the Path of the Outcast character development path and you did not pick the Heretical option she can be convinced to join you. Otherwise she will fight against you. More aeldari will join the fight.
  • You can fight Calligos Winterscale's group. Three bloodletters will join the fight.
  • You can fight both the aeldari and Calligos Winterscale's group. If Yrliet is in the party she will fight against you.
  • You can try to convince Calligos Winterscale to let the aeldari go. It will only work if you pushed him towards redemption at least twice throughout the quest. You will also need to pass a Coercion, Commerce or Persuasion test.

After you handle the conflict a new exit leading to the shuttle will become available. Loot the map and return to the voidship. From the planet you can now land at Haemonculus' Laboratory.

Shortly after you enter there will be a room on the left with a toolbox and a locked locker that you can loot. Shortly after there will be one on the right, which has two lockers and a hidden bag behind one of the beds. Go forward and you will find a cogitator with an optional Logic test on the left and a hidden door on the right. When finished, continue along the level and you will eventually reach an experiments room when you will need to fight three Foul Aberration, one Beta Grotesque and one Alpha Grotesque. Before continuing down the stairs you can pass a Logic test on a cogitator to open a secret stash containing cargo loot and Doombringer Hood. There is also an optional Lore (Xenos) test in the middle of the room. Loot everything and pass an Athletics test at the door to continue.

You will arrive at an intersection with 3 directions in which you could go. The path right continues is only useful if Idira is in the party and the The Door quest has been started. The path forward is blocked by a door you can unlock with Tech-Use to observe a few things and gain a little cargo loot. Go left to continue with the quest. Along the way you will find a button to activate an elevator but it will not work so keep moving forward, disabling the xenos traps along the way if you can. As soon as you enter the next room you will find various cloning tubes. You can destroy up to two of them to make the boss fight a little easier.

At the end of the room you will encounter Tervantias the Archmachinator, who will comment on whether he survived in chapter 3 or not. How the conversation goes does not matter and a boss fight will always follow. From every cloning tube that you did not destroy a Twisted Creature will come out. Try to avoid fighting them in melee as they release a toxic clout upon death. After the fight examine the hole at the end of the room.

Leave the laboratory. If you are Heretical the quest will end here.

If you are not Heretical, once you reach the exit you will receive a vox-cast. There is an optional Tech-Use test to gain a little experience but ultimately you will have the same two choices:

  1. [Go to the village] - you will be taken to the forest village
  2. [Stay at the laboratory] - you can return to the voidship but will have to find your way back to the forest village

Back at the village you will find Calligos Winterscale, who killed everyone and is oblivious to his own corruption.

Major choice: It is possible to redeem Calligos Winterscale if you chose the right dialogue options throughout the quest. After accusing him of being corrupted you will have the following dialogue options:

  1. "You have turned a calm settlement into bloody carnage. What other evidence does one need?"
  2. [Requires: Dogmatic - Fanatic] [Point a blessed finger at Worten] "There stands the Archenemy's spawn that has corrupted your soul. Behold him as I do, here and now!" - redeems Calligos Winterscale regardless of current progress
  3. [Requires: Passed the skill tests when examining Worten during The Emperor and My Right] "I believe that Worten is the one responsible for your delusion. Back on Dargonus, I noticed that he is not who he claims to be. Yet you seem to be unwilling to acknowledge it." - counts towards redeeming Calligos Winterscale
  4. [Requires: Learned from Speaks-With-Gods that Winterscale killed his seneschal] "I know that you killed your own Seneschal." - counts towards redeeming Calligos Winterscale
  5. [Requires: Seen the bodies in the forest] "I saw the bodies of the xenos in the forest. You didn't just kill them — you carved up their bodies and enjoyed every moment, thirsting for more blood." - counts towards redeeming Calligos Winterscale
  6. [Fellowship] "Look around — your own retinue is terrified of you!" - counts towards redeeming Calligos Winterscale of the skill test is successful
  7. "I had hoped that you would listen to reason. I was wrong." - fight Calligos Winterscale
  8. [Attack] "You are deaf to others' words and blind to your own deeds." - fight Calligos Winterscale

If you manage to redeem Calligos Winterscale he and his group will kill Worten but Calligos will be heavily injured in the process. You can choose to spare him or kill him. Regardless of your choice the quest will end.

If Calligos Winterscale was killed, once you return to space you will have the option to attack his fleet. It is made up of 1 Emperor's Vow and 2 Firestorm-Class Frigate.

This map is really weird, i played it 3 times now, for me, for my husband and in a second play, but sometimes looks like the place change, even some tips in this map is inversed.

If you want a peaceful resolution to the Aeldari question, when you encounter Calligos the first time in the jungle, you MUST choose this option after asking him about the Aeldari:
"You have already destroyed four xenos ships, is that not a great victory in itself? Cease this hunt, and I shall make the xenos leave your worlds forever."

Afterwards, in the camp, speak to Calligos and when you mention the Aeldari again, bring up your guilt for your predecessor destroying Crudarch, and then choose any of the skill checks. I went with reminding him about letting himself go and getting his lands overrun by the other rogue trader. Seemed safest since the other options implied rewarding him with either profit factor, or a major favor owed as a debt.

When you meet the Aeldari with Calligos, don't say anything about your kin destroying Crudarch since that will automatically start a fight. Declare you want a peaceful resolution, ask the Aeldari if there's a way to conclude matters without violence, and turning to Calligos, pass any of the skill checks, and he will throw his hands up and walk away.
