Rogue Trader Troubling Developments Walkthrough
At the beginning of chapter 3 you'll find yourself starting from your office in the Von Valancius Palace. You will receive a report from Clementia Werserian about how much the four houses support you. If you have enough standing with any house you will receive a cargo reward.
- House Drivestem gives 3 Profit Factor
- House Gaprak gives Mechanicus Creations
- House Sauerback gives People and Holy Gifts
- House Werserian gives People, Uniform Kit, Provisions and Fuel
You will be informed that either Yrliet Achilleas Scalander want to speak with you. Exit your office to talk to her. Regardless of your dialogue options the outcome will be the same. If Yrliet is present you will gain the Following Breadcrumbs quest. If Yrlier is not present you will gain the Hunting the Hunter quest.
After either quest is completed you will find yourself in a cage captured by the drukhari. The dialogue choices here do not matter but if you are not aggressive with Marazhai and pass a very difficult Persuasion test to trick him you will gain a little experience. No matter what you do the conversation will end with Marazhai forcing a drukhari parasite inside you.
You will see a vision of the voidship bridge, full of blood, ghosts and bodies, including those of your companions.
At the end of the bridge you will encounter Heinrix and Theodora accusing you of treason in front of Xavier Calcazar.
At the first accusation you will have the following dialogue options:
- [Requires: Iconoclast - Adherent] "The xenos is gone... Why is the Lord Inquisitor here? And Theodora's reanimated corpse too... Didn't she die? Everything is wrong here!" - you briefly break out of the illusion
- [Logic] "Lady Theodora... You died. Why are you here?" - "Lady Theodora... You died. Why are you here?" - you briefly break out of the illusion
- "Heinrix? But... you're dead!" - you fail to say these words
- "I... I don't know..." - you fail to say these words
- [Submit to the illusion] "I do."
- [Submit to the illusion] "I swear by the Emperor, every word is the absolute truth!"
At the second accusation you will have the following dialogue options:
- [Requires: Iconoclast - Adherent] "The only xenos plan I am aware of is the one where they play foul games with my head." - you briefly break out of the illusion
- [Lore (Imperium)] "Something... is wrong. According to the statutes of the Imperium, not even a Lord Inquisitor can unilaterally pass judgement on a Rogue Trader. I refuse to take part in this!" - you briefly break out of the illusion
- [Willpower] "Wait! The Inquisitor himself gave me his blessing to use xenos as I saw fit. Why, then, am I standing trial?"
- [Submit to the illusion] "Yes, I did cooperate with xenos. This I will not deny."
- [Submit to the illusion] "Before the court and the God-Emperor Himself, I plead guilty to all charges."
At the third accusation you will have the following dialogue options:
- [Fellowship] "A plot? What are you talking about? Ask Achilleas what happened. He is your agent, after all!" - you briefly break out of the illusion
- [Requires: Iconoclast - Adherent] [Look directly at "Heinrix"] "This is all just a dreadful illusion. I will have no part in it!" - you briefly break out of the illusion
- [Willpower] "Enough of this circus, Heinrix. I did not set up any attacks!" - you briefly break out of the illusion
- [Submit to the illusion] "You have uncovered mine and Theodora's plan. That is exactly what happened."
- [Submit to the illusion] "It was Lady Theodora! She made me sign a blood pact with the Drukhari!"
Either Yrliet or Achilleas will briefly appear in the illusion next, depending on whether Following Breadcrumbs or Hunting the Hunter was completed. Your final dialogue options will depend on whether you managed to briefly break out of the illusion 3 times or not but the outcome is identical.
You will find yourself in Commorragh. There will be a discussion between Marazhai, Archon Nazrakhei and harlequin solitaire during which you will have a few optional skill checks to gain additional experience. At the end you will lose consciousness. When you wake up the solitaire will give you a Gift From Beyond the Grave and you will rise.
Major choice: If you have sufficient Conviction, how you choose to rise will give you a bonus effect for the rest of Chapter 3.
- [Requires: Iconoclast - Adherent] [Willpower] [Remember all the people whose lives depend on you] - gives the Power of Honour effect (+10 Toughness)
- [Requires: Dogmatic - Adherent] [Willpower] [Overcome this trial, in the Emperor's name, for your service to Him is not yet ended] - gives the Plasteel Discipline effect (+2 Deflection)
- [Requires: Heretical - Adherent] [Willpower] [Pray to the warp gods for help] - gives the Pain Exaltation effect (+10% Damage) and starts the The Worm Churns quest
- [Rise. Gather your strength and simply rise]
- [Stay down]
The following quests will now start: One Foot in the Grave, Reunion, and Not the Biggest Problem.
