Rogue Trader Secrets of the Cult Walkthrough

After Heinrix rejoins the party speak with him on the voidship bridge and ask him to discuss the nature of his mission. Then travel to the Cranach sistem. Once you enter it a story event will begin. The only choices that matters is not sending officers in your place. If you do that you will miss a large reward of experience. For the best story results do everything possible to block the transmission. Afterwards the Flame in the Dark quest will begin.

Proceed through the Flame in the Dark quest until you lower the first bridge. Then, instead of going back, carefully walk through the steam area and you will encounter a Lexmechanic at the end. Talk with him and will have two ways to get the code to the room-vault underneath.

Major choice: What you tell Heinrix to do with the Lexmechanic will affect how much he'll trust the Rogue Trader when making his decision at the end of the quest.

  1. [Iconoclast] "Heinrix, stop. The leaders of the Cult would never discuss anything of importance in front of witnesses. Leave the poor man alone." - Heinrix will want to act Iconoclast at the next conviction choice and will trust the Rogue Trader at the end of the quest
  2. [Dogmatic] "We cannot allow the information to go to waste. One life is a small price to pay for the good of the Imperium." - Heinrix will want to act Dogmatic at the next conviction choice and may not trust the Rogue Trader at the end of the quest depending on the next major choice

Next to the cogitators behind the Lexmechanic there is a locked crate that will give you Stabilizer Bracers. If the party got injured by the steam you can return to the voidship quickly to heal them. Keep going through the Flame in the Dark quest until you reach the rotating platform. Instead of rotating it, go forward. The door will open with the code obtained from the Lexmechanic.

Inside the data-vault you will find cages with abominations pleading for death. At the end you will have the following two dialogue options with Heinrix.

  1. [Iconiclast] "Heinrix, let this go. You are only prolonging their suffering."
  2. [Dogmatic] "If there is something that will make them talk, we must use it."

Heinrix will agree or disagree with your choice depending on whether at the previous conviction choice you picked the same conviction or a different one. Regardless of Heinrix's answer, you will be the one to decide whether to kill the abominations or try to extract information from therm.

Major choice: What you tell Heinrix to do with the abomination will affect how much he'll trust the Rogue Trader when making the decision at the end of the quest. If you picked Dogmatic at the first major choice and choose to extract information from the abominations as well Heinrix will not trust you when making his final decision. Otherwise he will trust you.

At the end of the second room, interact with the Data-Vault. Approaching the cogitator will give a Logic option to gain some experience but will require a Willpower check to avoid penalties when leaving it.

Heinrix will discover the cogitator can predict the future at the cost of countless sacrifices. What he will decide to do next depends on how much he trusts the Rogue Trader.

  • If he trusts the Rogue Trader he will want to destroy the cogitator. He can be told to do it or convinced otherwise.
  • If he doesn't trust the Rogue Trader he will want to use the cogitator. He cannot be convinced to do otherwise and will invoke Inquisition rights if you try it. You can still destroy the cogitator before he has the chance to use it.

Major choice: What Heinrix does with the cogitator will affect his ending and some of his dialogue.

Regardless of the choice, a Screamer of Tzeentch will come out of the cogitator and you will have to fight it. After it loses half of its health it will summon 3 Pink Horror and 1 Herald of Tzeentch.

If you destroyed the cogitator before Heinrix had the chance to use it he will be angry and bring the following options:

  1. [Iconoclast] "I didn't want anyone else to suffer."
  2. [Dogmatic] "I did what any loyal servant of the Emperor would!"
  3. [Heretical] [Attack] "And now I'll end you too." - kills Heinrix; you can loot his equipment back

If Heinrix survived the quest return to the voidship and speak with him to end the quest.
